This recipe can be very strong, why? simply because each skin is very different for that reason if you are new to using essential oils and the apple cider vinegar to your face then I suggest you trying the second recipe. Each ingredient can help improve your skin specially if is acne prone but you can dismiss the essential oils and still get some good results. Also keep in mind the Apple Cider Vinegar has a strong smell which doesn’t help while applying the toner to your face but if you add the oils to the toner the fragrance will be much better (just a tip)..
- Rose water has many benefits such as cool the skin, help with acne & scars and helps maintain your skin ph balance.
- Apple cider vinegar regulates the pH of the skin, reduce red marks and it treats acne
- Lavender essential oil also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties which help fight acne
- Lemon essential oil help reduce excessive oil in the skin, helps brighten your skin, and lighten age/dark spots
Those are just key areas each ingredient helps your skin improve but speaking as someone who has very I mean very sensitive skin just be very cautious with each ingredient so try it once a day or make the toner eliminating the essential oils ingredients.
The following recipe is for a big bottle or jar, the second recipe is more controlled based on the size of your bottle or jar.
Ingredients
3-5 Roses with petals removed
2 cups Water
4 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
4-5 drops Lavender Essential Oil (optional)
4-5 drops Lemon Essential Oil (optional)
- Other items needed
Bottle to make your toner
Measuring cup
Strainer
This recipe can make up to 4 small travel bottles but it all depends on the size of the bottle or jar you would like to use. There are times I add both essential oils into one bottle but for this occasion I made 2 different bottles and separated the oils on each.
Well lets begin on how to make your own rose water, for this recipe you only need 2 ingredients roses and water, very simple quick to make.
In a medium pan boil water add the petals and let boil for about 5 minutes. Once you see the petals have a lighter color and the water matches the color of the petals you can turn off the heat. Set aside and let cool. Once cool strain into a sterilized jar or bottle. Add the Apple Cider Vinegar and the essential oils (those are optional)
Recipe # 2 (Option # 2) This option is more controlled by dividing the oils and applying those at separate time of the day for example I like to use when making this recipe the Lavender oil bottle # 1 in the morning and the Lemon oil bottle #2 at night just before going to bed. The lemon has very strong components which is good for my skin but not the best when exposed to the sun, that is why I prefer to apply the lemon toner at night. This is just something I do just as precaution specially when Im rushing and dont apply any sunscreen on my face.
Recipe # 2
(Bottle No 1) (Lavender Oil Only)
- Add rose water up to 3/4 of bottle size
- Add 1/4 was for the apple cider vinegar
- Add 4-5 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
(Bottle No 2) (Lemon Oil Only)
- Add rose water up to 3/4 of bottle size
- Add 1/4 was for the apple cider vinegar
- Add 4-5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
After washing your face pat dry then apply the toner with a cotton ball let dry.
Hope this toner is one you are excited to try and get wonderful results. As I mentioned earlier I have very sensitive skin and after trying so many products this recipe has helped heal my skin while clearing it from acne. I dont have the clear skin I prefer but I am very pleased how much my face has improved.
This recipe has been with me for a few years now and I wanted to share since there is hope for everyone who struggles with sensitive, acne prone, dark and age spot skin. There are many products, recipes and prescribed medications that might not work for you so hopefully if this is the situation you are in try this toner and in due time you will get good results.
